We are extremely illustrious for being a club that operates THREE! repeaters on three different bands: 2 meters, 1.25 meters, and 70 centimeters. Tune in for a QSO

Ham radio club

We are also a general interest club with members interested in HF, Fox Hunting, DXing, JOTA, building antennas, and all other aspects of the hobby

What is Amateur Radio?

Amateur radio, often called Ham Radio, is both a hobby and a service in which participants, called "hams", use various types of radio communications equipment to communicate with other radio amateurs for public service, recreation and self-training.

Amateur radio operators enjoy personal (and often worldwide) wireless communications with each other and are able to support their communities with emergency and disaster communications if necessary.

How to become a ham?

Before you can get on the air, you need to be licensed and know the rules to operate legally. US licenses are good for 10 years before renewal. There are three license classes: Technician, General and Extra.

WRAET holds VE exam sessions for anyone who wants to get their technician license or to upgrade their licenses. We also hold training classes to prepare you for the exam.
We make it simple!
