Scouting Radio Merit Badge and the Communications Merit Badge Jim N2RBJ has tentatively scheduled merit
badges on Saturday, Sept. 21 as the date for the program. He is in touch with half the scoutmasters of Wayne scout
troops and will pursue the others. Jim is seeking volunteers for the program. Each will need to take the BSA Youth
Protection training on-line. Takes about 20 minutes. Jam has drafted a flyer for the program. It has not been
distributed outside the club. He has asked for suggestions for edits from the membership. A tentative club logo was
used but not sure if we have a final version yet.
Mike considering a contest for the next drill (possible 6 meters Sporadic E propagation). He is scheduling it.

Field Day 2019 – Jack, W2USN
It would appear that the membership is not fully participating in field day which is unfortunate since both the Wayne
PD, Wayne OEM, and St. Joseph’s Hospital make an extraordinary effort to support us. Please reconsider your
participation and attendance even for part of the event. Members, guests, spouses, family and non-operators are
encouraged and welcomed to attend or stop by, to at least enjoy and perhaps learn and observe all weekend ...
perhaps spark interest in ham radio for family or friends All operators should supply their information to John
Demetrious with regard to equipment, operating intentions, and times you will be in attendance to participate. John
will do schedules, band plans, and layout. Last minute attendees can be worked in but earlier is better. Need a
volunteer to gather reports and submit to ARRL. I am unable to do it since will be away for a month lecturing and on
a cruise. Still need sting of lights for tent interior. Bill, KC2ZPZ, has offered to supply them. Some have offered to
bring coolers, water, and ice which is welcome but can always use more. Weather at this point looks good and no
precipitation. Prayers to weather gods lol
The hospital has agreed to supply tables and cots for over night, but cannot supply chairs. All operating positions and
others will require a chair so operators and attendees should assure that they bring a folding chair or camp chair.
Hospital will leave door open for bathroom access.
Friday night antenna flying by drones for lines on the poles and trees at 1900 in north lot of Saint Joe’s ... all
welcome and it is quite the experience to see and help with. Tent goes up at 0900 Saturday by Wayne PD and OEM
so try to be there ... donuts and coffee available at set up and pizza supplied for lunch. Pictures pictures pictures ....
we have a volunteer who will take for PR and website, but anyone who captures good photo should submit to Aly.
Aly will finalize the banner design and have printed at Staples (waterproof).
Questions are welcome.
Open Chair positions:
Program Chair and Hamfest Chairs are required.
There was follow-up discussion about having the Hamfest at Camp Veritans. KC2OII, John, will talk with Dave
Schwartz, Camp Veritans Board Member about the Hamfest.
Mayor/Council recognition of WRAET Club
Joe, K2JVS requested that KC2OII, John correct the legal name of the Club on the insurance to reflect that filed with
the State. Once that is done, Joe will move forward with the Council for approval with the same benefits and legal
alignment as currently exists with Wayne C.E.R.T.
Programs – There was no program. Steve, KD2PJK, is working on a proposed program and will advise.
Install and test assist with St, Joseph Hospital Wayne - VHF Radio for communication with other hospitals
WO2X, Dave volunteered to assist.
Special Event Station – KC2OII, John, will flush out a plan for WRAET Special Event Station at Dey Mansion..
N2RDA, Rob, contacted Wayne Day Chair on possible participation in Wayne Day (June). He has not responded.
