Meeting Minutes for 7-13-18
Welcome and start of meeting – Joe K2JVS The meeting started at 7:40 pm. Joe moderated the meeting as Tom, KR2I was absent. It began with a flag salute followed by discussion of agenda items.

Approval of Meeting Minutes June 8 - Carver W2TFM Minutes approved by majority vote.
Monthly Net report – Aly – AL0Y The net was held on June 27, the 4th Wednesday of the month at 8 pm on the WRAET 2M Repeater. It opened at 8 pm and closed at 8:38 pm.

Web Site – Aly AL0Y The Club Bylaws were updated to reflect the Club meeting night and the dues schedule for new members. Field Day pictures are being added.
Aly also discussed the Passaic County ARES.
Membership – Allan K2AJB 25 members have paid 2019 dues. 2 to go. Allan in discussion with NNJ Section Manager to develop recruitment leads.
Hamfest – Dan K2DDG Started planning. Forming committee. Finding outdoor/indoor facility and price.
Social Events – Dan K2DDG Sending out email to members requesting suggestions.
Participation in JOTA October 19-21 – Joe K2JVS Getting church approval. Voted at June meeting to participate again this year with Troop 108. Open to Girl Scouts and others.
Wayne OEM Coordinator for WRAET Club – Mike KD2NCN Mike identified required FEMA courses. Also required ARRL/ARES course.

Mike thinks everyone should take the FEMA ICS 100 at a minimum given our focus and interest in participating in emergency communication.
Mike will talk with Capt. Keith O’Sullivan and get his preference on net scenarios (themes). His scenarios will establish “structured” ARES/RACES drills for WRAET nets. Dave, N2NEC to take lead on organizing these ARES/RACES nets.
Projector in meeting room now operational with both VGA and HDMI inputs. All presentations should be done via the media center unit in the corner using the "laptop" button. VGA cable is stored in the podium, connect the laptop and then to the wall below the projector screen.
Field Day Results from June 23-24 – Jack KB2LNO Location was at St Joseph Wayne Hospital – Lots of cooperation from Hospital and Wayne OEM. Hospital also supplied generator and fuel. Wayne OEM supplied generator and fuel, also a large tent for the entire operation. Dave, WO2X provided logging software. Operated with 4 HF stations (category 4A) Banner Design completed by Ariel, KD2ONX. Banner cost around $49 and was approved at May meeting. However, it was never ordered.
Results: 343 SSB QSOs (1 point each) and 63 digital QSOs (2 points each) for a total of 405 QSOs and 467 points for on-air operations. Bonus points added for a number of categories include 4 stations running emergency power and under 150 watts, media publicity, public location, public information table, visit by representative or agency, visit by elected official (Mayor), social media promotion, Safety Officer, GOTA bonus and youth participation. Projected total points (contacts and bonus) – 2,194.
Club Shirts Dave, K2NEC, took the lead on Club shirts – came up with the idea, did the design and selected the shirt vendor. Thank you, Dave, for an outstanding job! Shirts were delivered at the meeting except for Egon, WA2DLZ who could not make the meeting. Carver, W2TFM, is coordinating with Egon.
Open Chair position which requires a volunteer is: Program Chair (meeting programs) required. No programs have been scheduled beyond July. Joe, K2JVS, requested that anyone with a proposed program for a future meeting contact Carver, W2TFM.
Mayor/Council recognition of WRAET Club Joe, K2JVS, indicated nothing to report but still in progress.
EchoLink proposal to Wayne OEM for funding – Joe K2JVS Nothing to report.
Program - was presented by Allan, K2AJB and Dave K2NEC on VHF/UHF digital voice modes including DMR, P25, Fusion, D-STAR, NXDN. Thank you Allan and Dave for an outstanding presentation - very informative!
Other Member business proposed from the floor Joe, K9MBA, described a GO KIT (Gordon – W2TTT variety) and showed cut-out panels of it. Joe offered to fabricate a GO KIT for the club. Thank you, Joe!
GUEST/PUBLIC PORTION There were no guests at the meeting.
Meeting adjourned at 9:15 pm. Next meeting will be Friday, August 10tth, 7:30 pm.
